More Information about Deaf Aotearoa NZ

Welcome to Deaf Aotearoa NZ, nestled in the heart of Nelson, a beacon of hope and support for the Deaf community across all ages and stages of life. Established with a vision to foster a vibrant, inclusive society where everyone can thrive, we've been serving our community for over four decades. We are more than just a welfare organisation; we're a family, a network, a bridge connecting the Deaf with the hearing world and each other. Our story began with a simple goal: to ensure every Deaf child in New Zealand has an equal opportunity to grow, learn, and flourish. Today, that mission extends far beyond early childhood, encompassing youth services including transition support, adult and senior services, and employment assistance. Our First Signs service offers vital support for families of deaf children aged 0-5, helping them navigate the unique challenges they face. For our young ones, we provide a nurturing environment through our Youth Services, fostering independence, resilience, and self-confidence. As our community members grow older, they find solace in our Adults and Seniors service, a safe space to share experiences, learn new skills, and enjoy camaraderie. But we don't stop there. We understand that the journey of life often presents unexpected hurdles. That's why we offer Hauora support, including assistance with obtaining essential assistive technology equipment. Our 1:1 support ensures no one feels lost or alone in their journey. At Deaf Aotearoa NZ, we celebrate the beauty and richness of sign language, fostering a deep appreciation for its power to bring people together regardless of their hearing abilities. We invite you to join us in our mission, whether as a member, volunteer, or partner. Together, let's create a world where every voice is heard, and everyone feels seen. Welcome to Deaf Aotearoa NZ - your home, your family, your bridge to a brighter future.

Crappy service

“make sure your drivers don’t get on the juice before working”

Excellent

“Just wow”

Bad

“Horrible service, i dont think the staff are trained. Went for eyebrow wax, came back with one brow smaller than the other. Gave them the benefit of the doubt, went back & left with wax in my hair. ”

Wouldn’t use

“Weird guy, really into Trump. Mediocre painter who thinks he’s the shit. Seems to have a high opinion of himself and is condescending, has a victim complex and is creepy. Beware ladies!”

Excellent

“My family use Flight Centre Queensgate every year for flights to the UK, USA and Asia.....our favourite staff members have been Len and Marina.”
