Nestled in the heart of Wellington, Kohanga Reo Te Awa Kairangi is more than just a childcare and education centre; it's a vibrant kōhanga whānau, woven with the rich tapestry of Māori culture and language. Established over three decades ago, our preschool has been nurturing young minds since 1987, providing an exceptional learning environment for children aged 0-5 years old. From the moment you step into our marae, you are enveloped in a warm embrace of Te Ao Māori - the Māori world. Our teachers, many of whom are fluent speakers of Te Reo Māori, guide our tamariki on their journey of language development in an immersive environment. Here, they learn more than just words; they immerse themselves in a language that tells stories, carries traditions, and connects them to their whakapapa - their ancestors and land. But we don't just stop at language. Our curriculum is richly interwoven with cultural activities such as pōwhiri, karakia, and waiata, providing our tamariki with a deep understanding of Māori customs and traditions. We believe that these experiences foster a sense of identity, pride, and respect for their heritage. We understand the importance of whānau in a child's life, which is why we encourage active participation from our parents and guardians. Through regular communication, family events, and shared learning experiences, we create strong bonds between home and kōhanga, ensuring that our tamariki are supported on their learning journey both at school and at home. At Kohanga Reo Te Awa Kairangi, we don't just educate; we cultivate a love for learning. We don't just teach language; we instill a sense of cultural pride. We don't just care for children; we nurture the next generation of Māori leaders. Come and join our whānau, where every day is filled with laughter, learning, and the beautiful sounds of Te Reo Māori echoing through our walls. He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata - what is the most important thing in the world? It is the people, it is the people, it is the people. And at Kohanga Reo Te Awa Kairangi, our people are our heartbeat.

Friendly driver
“i had a good experience with crown cabs, bit expensive on short distances but they bring you where you need to go”
Terrible service and poor quality shoes.
“I bought a $300 pair of leather boots from taylors. after wearing them occasionally to work (in an office) a few times per week they have completely worn through the sole and are leaking water. I returned them to taylors to request either the shoes are repaired or a refund.I was told they had to be sent to Richmond so the owner could assess them..many days later I received a very rude phone call from Craig tailor who accused me of lying about how often I wear them and what activities I used them”
