More Information about Hinerupe Kohanga Reo

Nestled in the sun-kissed heart of Gisborne, Hinerupe Kohanga Reo proudly stands as a beacon of early childhood education, welcoming tamariki (children) and whānau (families) from our vibrant community. Since our humble beginnings, we've been dedicated to nurturing the curiosity, creativity, and potential within each child who graces our kohanga (nest). Our kohanga is more than just a learning environment - it's a whānau, a family, where laughter fills the air and shared stories create lasting bonds. We embrace Te Kohanga Reo, an immersion approach to Māori language education, fostering a deep respect for our unique tikanga (culture) and customs. At Hinerupe Kohanga Reo, we strive to provide a safe, loving environment that nurtures the whole child - body, mind, and spirit. Our dedicated kaiako (teachers) are passionate about instilling a love for learning in every child. They work tirelessly to create engaging activities that help our tamariki reach their full potential. We understand that each child is on their own unique journey, and we tailor our teaching methods to support their individual needs. For children over the age of three, we offer 20 hours of free education per week, ensuring every family has access to quality early childhood education. And with a maximum capacity of just 16 tamariki, we can provide personalized attention that larger centers simply cannot match. Whether it's through waiata (songs), pukapuka (books), or kōrero (conversations), our focus is always on helping each child develop a strong foundation in Māori language and culture. But we also ensure that they are prepared for the wider world, equipping them with essential skills like problem-solving, communication, and empathy. So, if you're looking for a warm, nurturing environment where your child can learn, grow, and thrive, come join our whānau at Hinerupe Kohanga Reo. Together, we'll embark on an exciting journey of discovery and learning, guided by the principles of Te Kohanga Reo and grounded in the rich culture of Aotearoa. We can't wait to welcome you to our home away from home!
