About High Country Salmon

High Country Salmon is a boutique, 100% New Zealand family owned salmon farm, situated just 3km south of Twizel in the Mackenzie District. We grow glacial mountain salmon (otherwise known as Chinook or King salmon) in the pristine waters of the regions hydro canals. The constant flow of pure glacial water through the farm means that our salmon are fitter than sea run salmon. This results in a more delicate flavour and firmer mouth-feel. We have a floating cafe and fish shop on site, where you can try a range of salmon-inspired dishes including sashimi and sushi. Enjoy your meal out on the deck, and have a go at feeding the fish for free. If you would like to take some salmon home with you, our fish shop has a wide variety of products and we'll add complimentary ice to your packaging. Our latest attraction is a Catch-A-Fish experience. You get to cast your rod into our netted area near the cafe and hook yourself a beautiful salmon. Please see our website for more information, bookings and full terms and conditions.

“Once again, failing to pay your bill for over a year. Over $5000 owed to a small family fun business. Seems to be a common theme. DO NOT SHOP HERE, go support the honest, local produce farmers! ”
