Nestled in the heart of Tasman, New Zealand, the Golden Bay Museum stands as a testament to our rich history and diverse culture, a beacon of knowledge and entertainment for both locals and visitors alike. Established in 1990, we've grown from humble beginnings into a vibrant institution that celebrates the unique stories of this beautiful region. Step inside our doors, and you're greeted by an eclectic mix of exhibitions that span centuries, showcasing the intricate tapestry of Maori and European history that makes Tasman so special. From Abel Tasman's encounter with the local Maori in 1642 to the tales of goldminers who flocked to our shores in search of fortune, we invite you to walk through time and immerse yourself in these captivating stories. But we're not just a museum; we're a hub of activity and learning. Our calendar is filled with engaging tours, captivating classes, and interactive activities designed to ignite your curiosity and deepen your understanding of our history. Whether you're a seasoned historian or a budding explorer, there's always something new to discover at the Golden Bay Museum. Our collection isn't just limited to human history. We proudly house an extensive display of minerals and shells, remnants of our natural world that tell their own stories of time, change, and resilience. Each item is a piece of a larger puzzle, helping us understand not only our past but also our present and future. So why not join us on this journey? Whether you're spending a leisurely day in Tasman or are a resident looking to deepen your connection with our region, the Golden Bay Museum offers an experience that is as enriching as it is enjoyable.
